China launches Hainan International Art Trading Center

China launched the Hainan International Art Trade Center, an important part of its master plan to strengthen the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), in Haikou, southern China’s Hainan Province ).

The project, supported by central authorities and cultural departments, is one of the key projects during the construction of the FTP, according to local authorities at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Conference on the Development of Culture and Culture. the museum industry in China on Saturday.

The new center is comprised of an international online art trading platform, as well as eight functional on-site sub-centers, including the Art Central Business Center, Financial Center, Grand Center data and logistics center.

It will integrate several business formats and sectors of culture, technology, finance and tourism to provide services to the entire industrial chain of international cultural art, with the aim of becoming a new hot spot for the global art trade.

Wang Yong, president of the Center, noted that the advantages of CTF and the support of national policies made Hainan the ideal location for the project, as it will provide enabling conditions in terms of talent, logistics and capital flow, among others, and will allow these elements to come together on the platform.

“[The Center] will be a platform for more works of art, overseas and national ones, to do dual circulation here. It will also establish a platform which will be shared jointly by artists, collectors and museums to serve the construction of the Hainan FTP, ”he added.

The Center will also serve as a platform for various organizations, including the Center for Exhibition and Collection of Cultural Relics and Works of Art Returned Abroad, the International Platform for Exchange of Cultural Relics (Hainan ) and the China Cultural and Museum Industry Development Reflection Group.

It has also signed a series of strategic cooperation agreements with more than 10 institutions, such as the Software Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the International Silk Road Chamber of Commerce, in order to ” improve multi-channel cooperation and new format on trade and cultural art exchanges.

In April, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce released a master plan that sets out a series of measures supporting the construction of the Hainan International Art Trade Center in the Hainan FTP.

The plan also committed to providing policies in the areas of customs clearance facilitation, supervision of bonded goods, as well as warehousing and logistics.
