Huge fight breaks out between ‘delivery drivers’ accused of using McDonald’s take-out scam

Police have opened an investigation after a huge fight broke out at a McDonald’s in London. Watch how it played out below:

Shocking footage shared on social media shows what appears to be dozens of delivery drivers clashing outside a Maccies in Tooting, London, last month.

In the video, they can be seen punching and kicking each other, some using their helmets as weapons and a smashed window.

In the background, people can be heard urging the gang to stop, but their pleas are ignored.

The Metropolitan Police told LADbible they were called to the scene, but by the time officers arrived the group was gone.

A spokesman said: “Police were called at around 1pm on Tuesday June 28 to reports of a number of people fighting in Mitcham Road, SW17.

“Officers were present but the people involved were no longer at the scene.

“No arrests, no injuries have been reported. Investigations into the circumstances are continuing.”

In a post on Twitter, the force said it had been in contact with delivery companies following the incident.

He said: “Due to recent events, our officers have been working side by side with @McDonalds Tooting, @Deliveroo, @ubereats_uk and @JustEatUK to tackle ASB outside of McDonald’s involving delivery drivers. Our officers have engaged with many delivery drivers and are tackling ASB’s issues.”

In an update, police added: ‘A delivery driver treated without insurance and several other delivery partners have spoken.

Since the footage was released, some have blamed the incident on a scam by some drivers to get more orders from McDonald’s.

According to one driver, they tweak their GPS to make it look like they’re closer to restaurants than they actually are, allowing them to steal pickups.

Carlos Domingues told The sun said: “Some McDonald’s are now no go zones.

“Aggressive drivers intimidate anyone who arrives on their patch. Many tamper with their GPS and take multiple orders with different accounts.”

It comes after another video making the rounds on Twitter showed another fight outside a McDonald’s in west London a week earlier.

In the footage, staff and delivery drivers can be seen desperately trying to keep the door closed as a violent group tries to get inside.

“Officers attended the scene and found a man in his 20s with a head injury. His condition was not life threatening.

“A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and a fight. He remains in custody while investigations continue.”
