Planned since 2020, the brand’s transition “is a natural step towards a stronger global presence and will give customers access to an extensive logistics network,” said SGL.
The move is the latest step in SGL’s growing profile, since the company purchased freight forwarding service from transport giant Werner Enterprises Inc. in January for an undisclosed amount. Since itself acquired in 2016 by private equity firm AEA Investors, SGL also acquired the Spanish logistics service provider Grupo Contenosa, the Swedish air and ocean activities of the Danish logistics company PostNord, and the Australian company Pioneer International Logistics (PIL).
TransGroup operates over 40 locations in North America and over 120 locations worldwide under the SGL umbrella. The company says it provides visibility and management of the supply chain, from launching and tracking shipments to integrated reports and web-based transportation and warehouse management systems.
