Role overview

Fisker Automotive is looking for an enthusiast Senior Manager, Global Port Operations, to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, Logistics and Transportation, this role will lead a team responsible for the operations of Fisker’s Global Port Operations for Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL).


  • Ensure sufficient vessel capacity for export/import volume of vehicles to all domestic and international destinations
  • Arrange for customs and appropriate duties for each shipment
  • Responsible for the proper inspection of vehicles before loading and after unloading
  • Work with logistics planning team to identify enhanced service options
  • Establish, monitor and act on supplier KPIs
  • Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times and transport costs
  • Interpret data on logistics elements such as availability, reliability, supply chain management, and supplier information
  • Proactively determine supply chain impacts due to macroeconomic and geopolitical changes and recommend strategies to overcome anticipated impacts.
  • Recommend optimal transport modes, routes and frequency
  • Recommend improvements to existing or planned vehicle logistics processes
  • Examine the impact of logistical changes, such as routing, shipping methods, production volumes or carriers and advise on process and flow optimization
  • Prepare reports on logistics performance metrics and own logistics related databases
  • Oversee port vendor operations including prop, PDI, damage repair, vehicle protection, inspections, maintenance and recharging
  • Responsible for outbound transport operations by truck and train
  • Manage and maintain relationships with shipping lines, stevedores, inspection vendors, rail and trucking vendors
  • Provide comprehensive supply chain analysis and reporting to the highest levels of management on costs, performance metrics, damage rates and opportunities

Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • Diploma in logistics, supply chain management or operations; Favorite master.
  • Multicultural interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English, language skills preferred in German
  • Previous experience (7-10 years) working in logistics/supply chain/transportation function in automotive or manufacturing environment with in-depth knowledge of logistics processes
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of moving vehicles by rail, road and sea
  • Computer systems experience and skills, including knowledge and understanding of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer data systems
  • Expertise in logistics-related technical regulations such as import/export and customs regulations, including legal requirements, is a plus
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications, especially Excel
  • Well organized, strong attention to detail, advanced analytical and critical thinking skills as well as initiative
  • Thorough knowledge of international and national customs requirements
  • Knowledge of FVL transportation and logistics service providers
