US postman assaulted, strapped to delivery truck in Washington

A US postman was attacked inside his truck on Tuesday while unloading mail at the Washington Square post office on Connecticut Avenue DC

A US postman was attacked inside his truck while unloading mail in Washington on Tuesday.

DC Police said the postman was in the back of the truck at the Washington Square Post Office on Northwest Connecticut Avenue at around 5:50 p.m. when two suspects got into the back of the truck.

According to the postman, the two asked him for cash. When told them he had no money, the postman told police he was punched in the stomach and forced to lie on the ground. His hands were tied behind his back, according to a police report.

The postman’s wallet was taken out of his back pocket before the two suspects set off in a silver Mercedes. The wallet was then found in the back of the mail truck with nothing missing.

DC Police have released surveillance photos of the car they believe the suspects drove. Anyone with information about the car or the suspects is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099, or use the SMS helpline on 50411.

A reward of $ 1,000 is available for tips that lead to an arrest or arraignment.
